Celebrating 40 Years of Family Entertainment

Memory Lane

It all started years ago when the property Stonehedge sits on today, the North Hill Driving Range, was for sale. Situated on the expressway, that just recently was extended north, we thought in our heads what a perfect location for a family fun center.  The planning started and as luck would have it the Goodyear Bank helped us make our dreams come true.  The vision, a 48 lane center with a bar, restaurant, game room, meeting room, and babysitting, a “state of the art” center for our sport and community.

Not forsaking our “bread and butter”, the bowling lanes, over the years we have introduced new activities to keep you entertained. From adding volley ball courts to go carts and our continued efforts to maintain & revitalize the miniature golf course, which is there today. Our future plans will make this outdoor area a larger extension of the fun. Stay tuned and see what materializes next summer. Over the last 40 years inside we’ve remodeled and continue to change. Our largest renovation in 2001 revealed a $1.8 million int
erior overhaul. Since then we’ve spent in excess of $600,000 in upgrades and changes providing you, your friends and families a better experience.
Among our many amenities are 3 game rooms including the #1 Pinball Parlor in the State of Ohio. Thanks to Marvin Orcheid and his staff who maintain the pinball machines and run the weekly Pinball Leagues and monthly Tournaments. Bell Music provides us with the latest in video games and state-of-the-art redemption prizes. Jim Vestpoint, owner of the Cutting Edge Proshop, always has the latest equipment and professional drilling advice. The afterschool bowling program coordinated by Ray Stalnaker and Denise Reitz hosting over 500 boys and girls weekly and learning the sport. This #1 afterschool bowling program also promotes important life skills such as teamwork, how to win & lose and sportsmanship.

You’ll also be able to watch your favorite sporting event and enjoy adult beverages served at our 30 foot Cherrywood bar, added during the 2001 remodel. Kim’s Grille, also under the watchful eye of Ray & Denise serve the best in sandwiches, hot-fresh pizza, and appetizers this side of the border.

Through the years we have hosted several professional bowling tournaments that were aired on National TV including ESPN. And did you know that Stonehedge is the home center that invented glow in the dark bowling? Patented as “Lunar” bowling by Stonehedge and called “Cosmic” by many other centers is now all over the world and it started all right here inside Stonehedge.

Our staff is constantly working to make your visit enjoyable. We are very proud to be here and into our 41st year and looking for many more years. See you soon, stop and say hello & enjoy some fun time at the ‘Hedge.

We are very proud to still be going strong after 40 years of operation. Some interesting facts:
•    Monthly electric bill is over $7,000;
•    Insurance and property taxes are over $7,000 monthly
•    Payroll and staffing costs several hundred thousand dollars per year;
•    Not to mention a new roof twice in 40 years totaling several hundred thousand, new air conditioners costing thousands.
•    Weekly costs for purchases, supplies & parts forever fluctuating as demand dictates.

As you can see there is probably more to this than people see, but that’s good. We just want you to come and have fun & enjoy.
